| Check to make sure the printer is on and that the printer is connected to either the network or the computer you're printing from. Also, be sure you've selected the appropriate printer in the print dialog (the window that pops up when you select print from the file menu). If these things are kosher and the print job you sent still seems to have frozen, follow these steps: |
1. Select RUN from the start menu. |
| 2. Type "net stop spooler" (without the quotes) |
| 3. Type "net start spooler" (without the quotes) |
You will have to reprint your document but the print queue will now be clear. |

| Identity theft is a serious concern these days. We all know the common practices of burning outdated reciepts, shredding old personal documents, etc. But in today's world, it's important to apply standard security practices to the technology you use every day. Here are some password guidelines which will increase your personal data's security: |
1. Choose passwords of 8 characters or more |
| 2. Mix upper and lower case letters with numbers and special characters |
| 3. Break up any full word in your password with numbers or special characters |
| 4. Change your passwords routinely |
| 5. *DO NOT* use the same password for everything. This makes it very easy for a thief to access information about you and take control of your digital world |

| Most of us have a common tendency to forget passwords. If you don't ever forget anything, I envy you, but for most of us, this may be a life saver. If you're running Windows XP Professional, you can create a password reset disk by following the instructions shown below: |
1. Select RUN from the start menu. |
| 2. Type in "control panel" (without quotes) and click OK |
| 3. Open USER ACCOUNTS and click on your user account |
| 4. In the upper left, click PREVENT A FORGOT PASSWORD |
| 5. A dialog wizard will come up, simply follow the instructions and Windows will create a password reset disk for you. Think of it as free insurance, you won't be sorry you made the password reset disk if you ever need it! |
IMPORTANT NOTE: As with any password or security issue, make sure that you keep this disk in a secure location! |
